“You built a time machine… out of a DeLorean?”
And so begins the adventure of Marty McFly in the sci-fi comedy classic that is Back to the Future, the second scheduled movie in Mt. Airy USA’s “Moonlight Movies” series. The first movie Princess Bride planned for July 8 was cancelled due to thunderstorms.
Back to the Future follows teenager Marty McFly, a hard-rock loving high schooler whose family is anything but perfect. Then, Marty meets up with his good buddy, Doc Brown, an eccentric scientist who manages to invent time travel with the help of plutonium from Libyan terrorists.
When the Libyans come after Doc, who told them he’d build them a bomb, Marty escapes in the DeLorean. The only problem? Marty inadvertently travels back in time to 1955 and his own mother, Lorraine, develops a crush on him. Marty must then help his awkward father, George, win over Lorraine, all while avoiding local bully Biff Tannen so that he and his singlings can continue to exist in 1985.
The 1985 film is considered a classic, and for good reasons. With an intriguing plot, great characters and talented actors like Michael J. Fox and Christopher Llyod in the lead roles, the movie is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. It’s also a family-friendly film, so bring the kids along on this cinematic adventure.
The movie will be shown at Lovett Memorial Garden tonight.
