Former Archbishop Carroll athletic director heading to trial

Francis Murphy is free on bail, but the former Archbishop Carroll High School athletic director is on his way to trial. Murphy, 39, waived charges at a preliminary hearing today, as KYW reports, and will be tried for his attempt to initiate a sexual relationship with a former student.
Murphy was arrested in April after the student reported him. The long-time coach faces charges of unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of a minor based on accounts that say when the student reached out to him to get help retrieving items from a locker, Murphy tried to make the conversation sexual. The student had already left the Delaware County school for financial reasons.
