First shipment of trees arrive at Race Street Pier

With Race Street Pier set to open next month, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation is bringing in the finishing touches. Four large trees destined for the pier arrived this morning.

PlanPhilly reports the large swamp oaks are meant to make the park feel more complete when it opens to the public. The 30 trees, a surplus from New York’s 911 memorial, were purchased through donations.

Check back with NewsWorks; Kim Paynter is heading to the pier to take some photos.
