    With a total of $6.5 million on hand – Allegheny County Commissioner Dan Onorato leads the Democratic pack by a wide margin.

    None of his rivals, State Auditor General Jack Wagner, Montgommery County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel or Scranon Mayor Chris Doherty have as much as a million dollars in the bank. Doherty’s spokesman Mark Nevins said his candidate had to spend money recently on his mayoral re-election, and he isn’t discouraged at trailing in the money race..

    Nevins: Dan Onorato has a huge lead.. but the candidate with the most money doesn’t always win. So, we’re gonna continue to work hard and get our message out there.

    State Attorney General Tom Corbett came in strong on the Republican side with nearly $3.2 million on hand. That dwarfs the war chest of his rival, Representative Sam Rohrer, who has a cash balance of nearly $100,000.
