Driver dies after shooting, car crash, structure collapse

Authorities say a driver shot multiple times was pronounced dead after his car slammed into a north Philadelphia building, which partially collapsed onto the vehicle.

Police said the unidentified driver was apparently shot a short distance away before his car slammed into the structure at about midnight Wednesday. No one was inside the time.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said hundreds of bricks from the building fell onto the vehicle, trapping the victim inside. He was pulled out through the passenger side widow but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Small said about 18 spent shell casings were found about 100 yards away from the crash. Police are hoping that surveillance cameras from buildings in the area will help them track down the shooter.
