Does new ‘PHL’ brand represent your Philadelphia?
Philadelphia is getting a new brand treatment from the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Do you think it’s a good representation of the Philadelphia you know?
WHYY’s Zack Seward reported Tuesday on a rebranding of the city coming out of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. Expect a lot more “PHL” in the coming years, and more videos like the one above, meant to attract meetings, conventions and international visitors.
This sort of thing can have two purposes — to put the best face possible on the city to draw new people, business people, to spend money here and to remind all of us who live here why it’s such a remarkable place.
Does this video do the trick on both counts? Does it represent your Philadelphia, or is something missing?
(FYI, culture police: There’s a shot about a minute and a half in of someone putting ketchup on a Geno’s cheesesteak. Tourists!)
