DNREC gears up for trout season opening

Gone fishing- State environmental officials get ready for the opening of spring trout season.
Starting Saturday morning at 7, trout season will open in two ponds downstate: Tidbury Pond in Dover and Newton Pond near Greenwood in Sussex County. Officials say the trout stocked in the ponds earlier this week are larger than in previous years, averaging about three quarters of a pound, with a few trophy-sized fish thrown in as well.
