Delran man killed after crashing snowmobile in Maine

Authorities say a 50-year-old New Jersey man snowmobiling with two friends struck a tree on the edge of a trail in Farmington and died.

The Maine Warden Service said that Richard Keith Horton, of Delran, N.J., was operating a borrowed snowmobile when the accident happened around 11 a.m. Sunday.

The Warden Service says that neither speed nor alcohol were a factor. They blamed operator inexperience for the crash. Horton was pronounced dead on the scene.

    The accident remains under investigation.
