Delaware education specialist charged following incident with student

An incident involving a 13-year-old male student at the New Castle School has resulted in charges against an education specialist.

Delaware State Police say 41-year-old Mark Murdock of New Castle is charged with offensive touching after grabbing the student and placing him in a headlock January 26th.  Police say both had a verbal confrontation in the suspension room that day which escalated into the physical confrontation.

After being placed into a headlock twice, the teenager was treated at the school nurse’s office for minor injuries to the neck and face.

Murdock was charged Monday with offensive touching, and has been released on $100 unsecured bond.  Murdock was contracted by the Colonial School District to work at the New Castle School.
