Delaware bus rear-ended while picking up students

Delaware State Police are trying to figure out what caused a driver to slam into the back of a school bus as students were getting on board.

The accident happened on Route 13 in Townsend just before 8 a.m. Friday.  For an unknown reason, a car slammed into the rear of the bus as it was stopped near Eaton Drive to allow students to get on board.  After hitting the bus, the car continued onto a nearby patch of grass before finally coming to a stop.

The driver of the vehicle and several students have been taken to the hospital.  None of the students’ injuries are believed to be life threatening.  There’s no official word on the condition of the driver of the car that hit the bus.c
