Dark and gloomy for most of the shore today

Dark and gloomy conditions are expected for the remainder of the day for most of the state. This is how it currently looks in Beach Haven, courtesy of TheSurfersView.com. A shower cannot be ruled out. But it’s warm and mostly sunny in Cape May County.  Highs will reach the mid to upper 70s throughout the Garden State.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook advising of the potential for moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday afternoon through Monday evening, “which could result in flooding in areas of poor drainage.” Scattered thunderstorms “may be accompanied by strong wind gusts,” the outlook advises.

As the remnants of Karen approach and interact with a cold front, it will feel tropical: warm and humid. The weather should improve Tuesday, as high pressure begins to build in, delivering a much drier air mass. As of now, pleasant conditions are slated to last for days. Highs will be in the low 70s next week (still above average).
