Crews still working to restore power in Delaware

Nearly 24 hours after the snow, sleet and freezing rain stopped falling in Delaware, thousands of power customers are still in the dark.

As of midday Wendesday, more than 10,000 Delmarva Power customers were still waiting for their service to be restored.

More than 2,500 of those powerless customers were clustered in the area south of I-295 and east of Rt. 1 all the way down to Delaware City. Another cluster of outages was centered around Fairfax and Talleyville north of Wilmington with about 1,500 outages there. 

Delmarva Power is now getting assistance from PECO with 59 workers from Delmarva’s sister company in Pennsylvania coming to Delaware to help. Another 97 workers were sent by PEPCO which covers the Washington, D.C. and parts of Maryland. Across the company’s service territory, Delmarva restored power to more than 76,000 customers.
