Creative clustering at 1315 Walnut | Fairhill Square’s art returns | bolstering Fabric Row | monster hoagie
Good morning, Philadelphia. EOTS is back at it after taking a break from the keyboard for a Scandinavian adventure. Tell us what we missed while we were away. Without further ado, this morning’s Buzz:
Drawn in by cool office space and one another, creative businesses are clustering at The Philadelphia Building at 1315 Walnut Street, reports Philadelphia Neighborhoods/Technically Philly. Cultureworks’ coworking space will open on the building’s 8th floor in July, joining existing tech tenants RJMetrics, Eight Eleven and Zivtech.
Fairhill Square got its quirky metal sculpture, “El Gran Teatro de la Luna,” back after 13 years in storage. NewsWorks reports on the sculpture’s return, installed over a metal pergola, as part of the square’s ongoing restoration.
How can Queen Village’s Fabric Row become a stronger commercial corridor? Naked Philly checks in on efforts to support South 4th Street’s old-school fabric and notions shops while building on the diverse mix of new businesses that have chosen the corridor in recent years.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of hoagie. A 4.5-ton hoagie will be divvied up today at Independence Mall, for the patriotic communion that is Wawa’s Hoagie Day.
