Council still asking Delaware County SPCA to extend animal control services
Delaware County Council has apparently not acquainted itself with the “no means no” phrase. Council members sent another request today to the Delaware County SPCA asking that the organization extend its animal control services beyond the June 30 cut off date.
The local outfit of the SPCA already denied Council’s request from last week, but a spokeswoman for the organization says every request is taken into consideration.
When council members and representatives for the organization met last week, SPCA officials said extending the animal control services would threaten the shelter’s sustainability and jeopardize its compliance with the state’s charitable solicitation laws.
The Delaware County Daily Times cites a portion of the letter from County Councilman Mario Civera: “I would like to address the members of the (SPCA) board, as we have made great strides in not only location for the new shelter facility but also in the design of the building.”
County Council wants a six-month extension of the organization’s animal control.
