Council Rock schools to begin baseline concussion testing for athletes
The Council Rock School District will begin efforts to prevent brain injuries to its athletes, and it’s wasting no time. Testing for fall sports players begins tonight.
The district is partnering with Trauma Prevention Program at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Princeton Brain and Spine Care on the Concussion Prevention and Education Project to help parents, players and coaches prevent brain injuries.
Schools will use the ImPACT neurocognitive test to first determine how players’ brains function before play. If a player is injured during a game, the test can be compared with the baseline results.
