Cops: Teen sought after cyclist shot intervening in Rittenhouse holdup
Police say a warrant has been issued for a 17-year-old suspected of shooting a good Samaritan several times when he got off his bike to try to stop an armed robbery in a park in one of Philadelphia’s most exclusive neighborhoods.
Police say the teen wasn’t home on Wednesday. His parents are cooperating.
Officials say at least one other suspect remains at large.
The Tuesday night shooting in Rittenhouse Square occurred as people dined at a sidewalk restaurant next to the park.
Officials say the 39-year-old cyclist tried to intervene when he saw the robbery. Police say the boy grabbed the gun from a co-conspirator and shot the cyclist in the chest, torso and shoulder.
The unidentified cyclist remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Police say two victims knew the teen.
