Clinton uses Katy Perry concert to mobilize Philly voters

Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was at the Mann Center in Philadelphia Saturday night for a get-out-the-vote rally headlined by pop superstar Katy Perry.  

Clinton supporters began pouring into the concert venue hours in advance and by nightfall the Mann Center appeared filled to capacity.  

Speakers at the rally included New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and local candidates.  Katie McGinty who is in a tight race for U.S. Senate and Dwight Evans who is expected to win the Congressional seat once occupied by convicted former U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah.

Clinton was introduced by celebrity show runner Shonda Rhimes, creator of the popular television show “Scandal.”  The candidate thanked Rhimes for writing roles for powerful female characters and for “making TV look like America”.

Clinton is using a mix of rallies, concerts and appearances by surrogates to boost turnout in Pennsylvania on Tuesday. During the rally, she urged voters to make certain they knew their polling places and were prepared to turn out at the polls.  

“There are only three days left in this most consequential election. Are you ready to vote on November the 8th?” she asked.

Clinton also urged voters to support McGinty and the other local Democratic candidates on the ballot.

Clinton said she will be returning to Philadelphia Monday night for a rally at Independence Mall with President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, as well as former President Bill Clinton.

Late Monday afternoon, Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a rally in Scranton.
