Charlie Manuel to receive Humanitarian of the Year award
What began with a Phillie in 1988 will mark 2011 by celebrating another local baseball-er.
Phillies Skipper Charlie Manuel has been tapped as Magee Rehabilitation Hospital’s Humanitarian of the Year, and he’ll receive his award Nov. 15. The award was first given to former Phillies catcher and broadcaster Tim McCarver, making Manuel the second Phillies to be given the honor.
The award is given annually to someone who contributes in a positive way to the role of health care and/or the lives of individuals with disabilities.
