Eighth District bonus track – Quick video of the library candidates’ forum

Voters in Northwest Philadelphia got a chance to meet many of the men and women running for Philadelphia City Council.  Nine Democratic candidates turned out last week, March 30, at the candidates’ forum at the Joseph E. Coleman Library in Germantown. No Republican candidates showed up but there are fewer of them in Philadelphia. Registered Democrats outnumber Republicans six-to-one in the city.

As part of NewsWorks’ complete coverage of the Eighth District City Council race, we are covering all of the candidate forums and debates. This forum gave the candidates a brief chance to make their case to the voters. To read our coverage of this forum click here.

Today we bring you the web equivalent of the dvd bonus track. We sent a University of the Arts student Brian Stone to cover last week’s forum with his video camera. We asked Stone to give us a flavor of what it was like to be there in the political thick of things. He aimed not just for the messages of the day, but for the participants’ experience.

From the Oreo cookies to the kitchen timer used to time candidates’ responses, Stone brings us this short video of the Coleman Library candidates’ forum.
