Beyonce, Nine Inch Nails headline Made in America concerts in Philly
The city of Philadelphia has released a few more details about the Made in America Festival on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway set for Saturday and Sunday.
Headlined by Beyonce and Nine Inch Nails, the concert festival will feature 30 acts.
Just like last year, the concert promoters will close off the Parkway with a double line of fencing. Last year’s concert had a capacity of 50,000 ticket-holders, and brought complaints from neighbors about noise and access.
City representative Desiree Peterkin-Bell said the agreement with the concert promoters this year is mostly the same except for a few items. For instance, promoters will not be allowed to park trucks on a nearby baseball field, which has been renovated at the city’s expense.
“Von Coln Field will not be used in the same way it was used last year, given the city’s investment. Two, there’s been a slight increase in the number of people participating, up to 60,000 each day,” Peterkin-Bell said. “Three, an additional entrance will be located at 23rd and Penn Avenue.”
Last year’s event pumped an estimated $10 million into the city’s economy. Peterkin-Bell said the concert promoters will pay for police presence, but would not say how much.
