Atlantic City to vote on selling airport, other cost savings
Atlantic City lawmakers are set to vote on a plan to avoid a state takeover including selling its airport.
City Council will vote Wednesday on key parts of a fiscal plan, including selling Bader Field to the Municipal Utilities Authority for $110 million.
The Press of Atlantic City reports the council will also vote on new labor agreements with its seven worker unions and will consider the privatization of payroll services.
City officials have projected $72.9 million in savings from 2017 through 2021. Atlantic City has annual budget deficits of approximately $100 million before state aid.
Mayor Don Guardian has listed 26 items where the city either has or plans to cut costs and raise revenue, including the proposed sale of Bader Field to the Municipal Utilities Authority for $110 million.
