Armed robbery of Manayunk deli continues recent spree in area

Following the third such armed commerical robbery in less than a week, police are seeking the public’s assistance in helping to identify a suspect who robbed Manyunk Gourmet Deli on Thursday afternoon.

At 2:29 p.m. on Thursday, a 44-year-old male employee of Manyunk Gourmet Deli was working inside when an unknown male entered the store carrying a handgun equipped with a laser. 

At the counter, the suspect pointed the handgun at the employee and demanded cash and cigarettes. He took $250 and 15 packs of cigarettes and placed them into a red and white plastic bag. 

The suspect then fled the store on foot and was last seen going south on Wilde Street.

The incident follows Sunday’s armed robbery at a Papa John’s on Ridge Avenue and an armed robbery at a Roxborough deli on Tuesday

The suspect is described as a 5’9″ black male around 30 years of age. He has a stocky build with a medium complextion and was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, dark pants, black sneakers, white gloves and armed with a handgun.
