Annual Harry Potter Festival to fly into Chestnut Hill this weekend

The annual Harry Potter Festival is back this weekend. Each year, the festival turns Germantown Avenue in Chesntut Hill into an enchanted village streaming with magical tricks, witches and wizards.

Friday, Oct. 16:

9 a.m. Harry Potter Conference at Chestnut Hill College begins. 

7 p.m. Harry Potter Pub Crawl kicks off

Saturday, Oct. 17:

8:30 a.m. Annual Firebolt 5K and Nimbus Walk at J.S. Jenks (8301 Germantown Ave.)

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Live reading of “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” at Spinner’s End (E. Hartwell Lane) 

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jenks Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry Kid Zone (8301 Germantown Ave.)

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Quidditch Tournament at Chestnut Hill College. (8606 Germantown Ave.)

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Serpent of Woodmere Straw Maze at Woodmere Art Museum (9201 Germantown Ave.)

10:45 a.m. Opening Ceremony at Hogsmeade Station (SEPTA Chestnut Hill West station)

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Selfie Park at Hedwig’s Hollow (8201 Germantown Ave.)

12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Defense Against the Dark Arts classes at Godric’s Hollow (8130 Germantown Ave.)

12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Musical games at Tottenham Court Road (E. Southampton Ave.)

1 to 2 p.m. Sorting Hat demonstrations at Tottenham Court Road (E. Southampton Ave.)

1 to 3 p.m. Meet owls from the Philadelphia Zoo (7916 Germantown Ave.)

5 p.m. Film showing of “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” (8040 Germantown Ave.)

There will also be a series of “Hunt for the Horcrux” activities up and down the avenue from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
