A world of Harry Potter takes over Chestnut Hill for annual festival [gallery]

Slightly overcast skies created an even greater British feel as crowds gathered along the cobblestone streets of Chestnut Hill for the Harry Potter Festival and Fourth Annual Philadelphia Brotherly Love Quidditch Cup Tournament.

The events took place Friday and Saturday, with the opening ceremony on Friday night at the Top of the Hill. Presentations from Professor Dumbledore, Harry, Hermione and all the usual characters kicked off the weekend. Of-age wizards continued the celebration with libations at the Leaky Cauldron (McNally’s Tavern) and other hot spots along Diagon Alley (Germantown Avenue).

Saturday saw even more appearances from the Harry Potter cast, with magic-inspired activities for all ages. Face painting, magic shows, fortune telling and even a “Defense Against the Dark Arts” class made the weekend one to remember for Potter fans. The festival is in its fourth year and continues to be an anticipated event.
