Recently President Obama tried to reassure Americans that space exploration will continue despite an end to space shuttle flights. We are coming up to the end of construction of International Space Station, which has occupied us for the last 11 years. At this point why wouldn’t the President’s advisors take a step back and look at where we are and where we want to go in the future. However, this new direction could pose a risk that we will allow other countries to surpass us in technological development and engineering. Also, the Lyrid meteor shower is the highlight of the night sky this week, but it won’t be very prominent. This and more on this week’s SkyTalk.
