92nd annual East Falls Golf Championship set for September

The East Falls Golf Championship, affectionately known as the East Falls Open, is the oldest neighborhood golf tournament of its kind in the United States (dating back to 1920). This year, the tradition continues for the 92nd time at nearby Sandy Run C.C. on Sept. 12 at 8 a.m.

The entry fee for this year’s event is $125 ($115 if paid in advance), which includes greens fee, cart, luncheon, 2-hour open bar, playoff, and prizes.

Play is divided into five flights based on playing ability. After 18 holes of play in the morning, the lowest six gross scores from each flight will participate in a six-hole low-gross playoff after lunch to determine the winners of each flight.

Players 65 or older opting to compete in Senior Flight (a low-gross competition with no playoff) will pay the discounted Senior rate ($100 per player)

“After a very successful six-year run at North Hills CC, we’ve decided to make the move to Sandy Run,” said East Falls Golf Association chairman Chris Kallmeyer.

“Thanks to strong sponsorship support from the local business community, we’re able to offer a great day of golf at a high quality golf course but at the same time keep the cost relatively low,” Kallmeyer said.
