Hit the tap on New Year for NoLibs victim

Looking for a place to watch the truncated Mummers Parade on New Year’s Day? A place to recuperate? A place to get 2009 off to a good start for a good cause?

Look no further than The Standard Tap in Northern Liberties, where you can also tool around and check out the neighborhood’s growth spurt, if it’s been a while since your last visit.

The Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association tells us that The Standard Tap is donating 20 percent of all its sales on New Year’s Day – we’re assuming that includes Bloody Marys and Yuenglings – to benefit neighbor Katrina Mansfield, who was assaulted in her home last month. Mansfield is facing significant medical bills and other expenses as she recovers.

“Thanks to all those neighbors who’ve made individual donations so far,” writes NLNA President Matt Ruben. “Katrina’s family reports that she is now out of any immediate danger and is beginning the long road to recovery.”

The Benefit for Katrina runs from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. New Year’s Day. The Standard Tap is at 2nd and Poplar.
