Is Philadelphia GOP reeling?
Philadelphia’s Republican party has received a jolt in this week’s election in Philadelphia.
City Republican Party General Council Michael Meehan said John Featherman’s strong challenge to the party’s chosen mayoral candidate, Karen Brown, isn’t the best thing for the GOP.
“Well right now she’s leading by 59 votes, I’m disappointed unfortunately Karen didn’t get her message out,” said Meehan. “She has been a short time Republican, but her opponent has been a long-time Libertarian, that somehow did not get spread around.”
Former Republican, turned Democrat and independent filmmaker Sam Katz said the party took a hit on Tuesday.
“You’re looking at a Republican party at least the structure of the party suffered a humiliating outcome in yesterday’s election,” said Katz.
Meehan said he’s not going anywhere.
“We’ve been here doing it for decades and we are going to stay around as long as someone will have us or pay attention to us,” he said.
