13-year-old is Camden’s first homicide victim of year

Authorities say a 13-year-old boy has become the first homicide victim of the year in Camden, New Jersey.

The Camden County prosecutor’s office said Nathaniel Plummer Jr. was found shot on the sidewalk in the city around 11:15 p.m. Thursday.

The Camden teen was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead early Friday.

Nathaniel’s mother, Taisha Mercado, told the Cherry Hill Courier Post that he wanted to be a basketball player when he grew up.
