1 shot dead, 1 wounded before van crashes into Philly home

A passenger died after police say he and the driver were shot while riding in a minivan that then crashed into a Philadelphia home.

Police say officers found the men bleeding as they arrived at the smashed up van around 12:45 a.m. Thursday in the city’s Olney section.

The 21-year-old passenger suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head and was pronounced dead at Einstein Medical Center.

The 20-year-old driver had head and hand wounds and was listed in serious but stable condition at the hospital.

Police say at first the 20-year-old thought he’d been injured in the crash and didn’t realize he’d been shot.

Three other people in the van fled. Police say they found a gun inside.

No one was hurt inside the damaged home.
