Examining the McCaffery suspension
ListenGuests: Gina Passarella, John Micek, Phil Goldsmith
Justice Seamus McCaffery was suspended from his position at the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania last Monday amid a growing controversy surrounding his transmission of pornographic emails from state-supplied technology. Republican Chief Justice Ronald Castille penned a damning concurring opinion against McCaffery, a democrat which highlighted the ever-escalating tensions between the two judges. Today on Radio Times, we go over the controversy, the long-boiling tensions between Castille and McCaffery, and look at some previous scandals in the state’s highest court. We’re joined by GINA PASSARELLA, reporter for the Legal intelligencer, PHIL GOLDSMITH, a former Inquirer reporter who most recently served as the managing director for the City of Philadelphia, and JOHN MICEK, editorial and opinions editor for the Patriot-News.
