WHYY 70th Anniversary Decades Challenge
Overview:
Beginning September 19, 2024, WHYY invites the Greater Philadelphia community to join our WHYY 70th Anniversary Decades Bracket Challenge.
To celebrate our 70 years of history, we will be hosting an interactive social sweepstakes campaign, whereby we will post head-to-head matchups of two decades weekly on Instagram and ask our audience to vote on their favorite era of WHYY programming.
You are invited to vote for your favorite decade of WHYY’s history in the Comments section. By doing so, you will automatically be entered into a random drawing for awesome prizes. Each Decades Bracket Challenge post you comment on with your vote will receive an entry into the sweepstakes. Each individual will receive one entry regardless of how many times they have commented.
What are the prizes?
Ten (10) randomly selected winners will receive:
A 70th Anniversary Afternoon of Fun including
- WHYY Studio Tour
- Winners Lunch
- Meet and Greet with WHYY Hosts
- Swag bag with special gifts
- Value: approximately: $50
Twenty-five (25) randomly selected winners will receive:
- Special anniversary keepsake WHYY T-shirt
- Value: approximately: $25
Where can I enter to win?
Eligible entrants must provide their vote in the comments of a WHYY Decades Bracket Challenge Instagram post by October 31, 2024.
Eligibility Requirements
To enter, you must (a) be at least 18 years old at the time of and a U.S. resident physically residing in the state of Delaware, the following counties of southern New Jersey (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Salem, Somerset, Warren counties) or Philadelphia and its surrounding counties (Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware) and (d) not be precluded by applicable law from participating.
Do I need to make a gift or purchase to enter?
No. A gift or purchase is not required.
How many entries are permitted per person?
One entry per person or organization is allowed.
What are the odds of winning?
The odds of winning will depend on the number of entrants.
When does the contest start? When does it end?
Collection of sweepstakes entries will begin at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on September 19, 2024, and end at 11:59 p.m. (ET) on October 31, 2024. WHYY can cancel, suspend, or modify the contest, disqualify contestants, and take legal action against illegal activities.
How will the winner be notified?
WHYY will reach out to the (35) randomly chosen winners. Winners will be required to complete a sweepstakes acceptance letter to qualify for the prize. WHYY will make reasonable efforts to contact the winners within 48 hours of the winners being selected. This contact will be made through Instagram direct messages. If a winner does not respond to WHYY within 3 business days after the first initial contact, WHYY will award another person. Winners are responsible for reporting and paying all applicable taxes.
General Conditions:
Contestants agree to be bound by the official rules, release WHYY and other parties from liability, and indemnify, defend, and hold harmless WHYY. This contest is void where prohibited. WHYY is not liable for those not accepted due to technical issues. Board members, employees, their immediate families (parent, child, spouse and/or sibling and each of their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside), and those living in the same households (whether or not related), of WHYY, Inc. are not eligible to enter. Must be a legal U.S. resident.

For the name(s) of the final list of winners, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to WHYY 70th Anniversary Decades Challenge, WHYY Marketing Dept. Independence Mall West, 150 N. 6th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106 for receipt no later than December 31, 2024.
