Charles Cohen’s journey from sound designer to musician

    Electronic music has come a long way since the introduction of synthesizers more than a half-century ago. Today, virtually every pop, rock and R-and-B song you hear on the radio includes synthesizers in its lineup.  But outside of the limelight, many musicians continue to chart new ground with these instruments.

    One notable denizen of that scene has been living and working in Philadelphia for over forty years.  Charles Cohen started out as a sound designer for theatre and dance companies and Temple University.  On the eve of his upcoming concert in West Philadelphia tomorrow night, he spoke with NewsWorks Tonight producer Kimberly Haas. Charles began by recalling his early days.
