Amaris Manning

Amaris Manning is the Associate Producer for WHYY’s Morning Edition, where she leverages her passion for journalism and community. A proud alumna of Neumann University, Amaris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Digital Media with minors in Criminal Justice and Political Science, and a Master’s degree in Media Studies and Production from Temple University.

With a strong foundation in public media, Amaris gained experience in television and radio broadcasting throughout her undergraduate years, producing Neumann University’s news broadcast and hosting a talk radio show. Prior to joining WHYY, she worked as a News Production Assistant at a local radio station and later transitioned into roles as Communications Manager, grant writer, and Development Associate.

Outside of her professional work, Amaris is a creative at heart—an author, illustrator, and filmmaker. She independently produced an award-winning short film about the 2018 D.C. March for Our Lives march for gun legislation, focusing on the youth participants from Community Baptist Church of Chester. Her animated short, The Little Airplane, also won an award. As a published author, Amaris writes across multiple genres, from contemporary to fantasy and thrillers, often addressing themes like mental health and social justice.
