Wisdom
ListenWhen we hear the word wisdom, most of of think of the qualities of reflection, compassion, and cognition. We think of a type of knowledge that is gained through a lifetime of experience, but does everyone necessarily gain that knowledge? Dr. Dan Gottlieb and his guests discuss wisdom: what it entails, who will and who won’t acquire it, and how they accomplish that. We’ll hear an interview with Dr. Ursula Staudinger, director of the Columbia Aging Center.
Joining the conversation will be neuropsychologist Dr. Elkhonon Goldberg, who is a Clinical Professor of Neurology at the New York University School of Medicine, and director of the Luria Neuroscience Institute. He is also author of The Wisdom Paradox: How Your Mind Can Grow Stronger as Your Brain Grows Older. Dr. Stephen Post, Professor of Preventive Medicine and Founding Director (2008) of the Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care, and Bioethics at Stony Brook University School of Medicine and author of The Hidden Gift of Helping: How the Power of Giving, Compassion and Hope Can Get Us Through Hard Times. Geraldine Grossman, a founding member of the Family Institute of Philadelphia, and a psychologist who has been in practice for over 50 years.
