A new study shows that girls in the United States are reaching puberty earlier — some girls starting breast development as early as seven years old. Obesity, environmental chemicals, and even absent fathers, may play a role in the disturbing trend. Our guests PAUL KAPLOWITZ, Chief of Endocrinology at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC and JULIANNA DEARDORFF, an Assistant Professor in the School of Public Health at University of California – Berkeley, explain the causes and consequences of maturing too early.
