Being smart about shopping “organic” and buying seafood

Listen 00:48:44

Guests: Mark Lang and Paul Greenberg

There’s a lot of consumer confusion over food labels these days with words like organic, natural, gluten-free, GMO-free, and fair trade boldly displayed on packaging. But what do these labels really mean, do they matter or are they just marketing fads? This hour, we’ll try to sort it all out with MARK LANG, professor of Food Marketing in the Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University. Then, Radio Times producer Debbie Bilder talks with PAUL GREENBERG, author of American Catch: the Fight for Our Local Seafood, about how to be smart when it comes to buying seafood. He’s come up with three simple rules to follow.
