Guest: CARA NICOLETTI

Some people get inspiration from music, nature, or art, but for butcher and cook CARA NICOLETTI it’s books. Nicoletti, who grew up around the carcasses and cleavers in her grandfather’s butcher shop, turned to books early in life to escape her shyness. She went on to get a literature degree and become a butcher herself. In her new memoir, Voracious: A Hungry Reader Cooks Her Way Through Great Books, Nicoletti shares recipes inspired by her favorite books including breakfast sausage from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House in the Big Woods, pea and bacon soup from Charlotte’s Web, chocolate cupcakes with peppermint buttercream from Jonathan Franzen’s The Corrections, and fava bean mousse crostini from Thomas Harris’s The Silence of the Lambs. Nicoletti comes in to talk to Marty about her recipes and the books that helped her through life.
