Same-sex marriage election victories and LGBT rights

Same-sex marriage supporters have a lot to celebrate this election.  In Washington State, Maine and Maryland voters chose to legalize gay marriage through ballot referendums.  In Minnesota, voters rejected a proposed State Constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.  And Congress is  becoming more diverse with Tammy Baldwin, a Democrat from Wisconsin, set to become the first openly gay Senator and a total of six gay Representatives in the U.S. House.  National polls have shown that Americans increasingly support gay rights and same-sex marriage — 51% of Americans according to an ABC/Washington Post poll out this week.   Today, we’ll get reaction to these victories, discuss is there is a real cultural shift, and talk about what’s next in the battle for LGBT equality.  Our guests are TOBIAS BARRINGTON WOLFF, professor of law at University of Pennsylvania Law School, BRIAN SIMS, the Pennsylvania House Representative for the 182 district in Philadelphia, and KERRY ELEVELD, a freelance writer and former White House correspondent for The Advocate.
