The ongoing budget battles in Congress

Listen

Guests: James Peterson and Joe Watkins

Government shutdown or not, the budget battle on Capitol Hill has had a polarizing effect on the nation, in Congress and within the two political parties. The GOP appears to be deeply divided with longer serving members concerned about the tactics of a rising Tea Party which is singly focused on ending of Obamacare. Democrats are hoping that a dysfunctional Congress and a visibly fractious Republican party will serve them well in the next election cycle. Meanwhile, both parties seem to be busier pointing fingers at each other than working towards a compromise. In this hour of Radio Times we’ll focus our attention on Capitol Hill where politicians are pointing fingers and each other and wrangling over the role of government and how it should be funded. Our guests in studio are Lehigh professor JAMES PETERSON and Republican strategist JOE WATKINS.
