Ballot Talks: the latest on the presidential race as the general election draws near
Listen 00:48:44Guests: Byron Tau and Sam Stein
With Ted Cruz’s announcement on Tuesday that he was dropping out of the presidential race after a disappointing loss in the Indiana primary and yesterday’s declaration from John Kasich that he was exiting the race as well, Donald Trump’s path to the Republican nomination is imminent. On the Democratic side, Bernie Sanders’ victory over Hilary Clinton led him to declare that his campaign would continue to soldier on in the hopes of more primary victories, despite his delegate deficit. In this edition of Ballot Talks, Marty talks with BYRON TAU, a political reporter for The Wall Street Journal, and SAM STEIN, senior politics editor for The Huffington Post, about an election season that has been full of surprises. We’ll talk about the remaining candidates, the state of the electorate, and how the race is shaping up a few months ahead of the Republican and Democratic national conventions this summer.
