Reefer Madness: Shifting Policies and Attitudes toward Pot, the Marijuana Industry, and the Environmental Downside of Some Marijuana Growth

Listen

Hour Two

Guests: David Mark, Eleazar Meléndez, and Jesse Hyde

In late August, Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the Justice Department will not attempt to block state marijuana laws as long as states keep robust regulations in place. Measures have been approved in two states, Washington and Colorado, to decriminalize small amounts of pot for recreational use and several other continue their push for medical marijuana to be available in their states. Times are-a-changin’. Starting off this hour of Radio Times with us is DAVID MARX of Politix, who’ll take us through the shifts in federal policy and the latest developments in national marijuana news. Then we’ll hear from journalist ELEAZAR MELENDEZ on what’s happening in the marijuana industry. We’ll round things out with writer JESSE HYDE, who’ll discuss some of the environmental impacts of unregulated marijuana growth.
