‘Pull of Gravity,’ a documentary about re-entry after prison

Seven hundred thousand inmates are released from U.S. prisons each year. A new documentary film funded by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania wrestles with the question: What happens when they come home? “Pull of Gravity” is an intimate portrait of three men in different stages of reentry from prison to society, offering compelling insights that can help shape responses from family members, parole officers, law enforcement officials, and the social networks upon which reentry is dependent.  The film grew out of the previous work of the filmmakers, EL SAWYER and JONATHAN KAUFMAN, on a video-based violence-intervention program for youth funded by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sawyer shared the story of his own re-entry following a prison term with ROBERT REED, Executive Assistant for Outreach in the U.S. Attorney’s Office Sawyer, and the seed for “Pull of Gravity” was born.
