Progress on HIV/AIDS
ListenHour 1
Guests: Gary Bell, Ian Frank and Jose DeMarco
The Mississippi child who researchers thought was cured of HIV tested positive last week. This was a major disappointment for the family and researchers who had hoped new infections could be cured with early aggressive treatment. This comes just before the start of the 20th International AIDS Conference this weekend. Today we take stock of where we stand in the battle against the epidemic and look at how life has changed for those infected. Marty talks with GARY BELL, Executive Director of Bebashi, a HIV/AIDS case management agency, IAN FRANK, Director of Antiretroviral Clinical Research at the University of Pennsylvania, and AIDS activist JOSE DEMARCO.
