Philly Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey; then Barbara Laker on ‘Tainted Justice’ 4 years later

Listen

Philadelphia Police Commissioner CHARLES RAMSEY joins us to brief us on his contribution to the Gun Violence Panel convened by Vice President Joe Biden and appointed by President Obama. That panel’s work culminated in four ambitious legislative proposals sent to Congress, including universal background checks for all gun buyers, a crackdown on gun trafficking, a ban on military-style assault weapons and a ban on ammunition magazines holding more than 10 bullets; and 23 executive actions addressing different aspects of gun violence.

Then, we’ll check in with Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter BARBARA LAKER of the Philadelphia Daily News about her recent follow up on her “Tainted Justice” series, which uncovered a narcotics squad raiding bodegas and cutting of surveillance cameras to cover up misdeeds including looting and sexual assault – which led to $1.7 million in civil suit settlements but hasn’t forced them off the force.
