The state of New Jersey has undergone a significant political upheaval, with the strongest evidence yet the passage of Governor Chris Christie’s pet project: a bill requiring public employees to pay more for their health care and pensions. Protests rocked Trenton this month, and Democrats and Republicans in the legislature fought tooth and nail over this year’s budget. Also victim to state cuts was NJN, the state-owned public TV and radio network that was broken up and sold to bidders in New York and Philadelphia, including WHYY. Joining guest-host TRACEY MATISAK to talk about his own experience covering and being at the center of this story is MICHAEL ARON, NJN’s legendary Senior Political Correspondent and host of NJN’s Reporters Roundtable. And to help make sense of the changing political landscape in New Jersey, we’ll hear from Montclair State political science professor BRIGID CALLAHAN HARRISON and MAYA RAO, staff writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer covering the New Jersey statehouse.
