In Long Time Coming: Reckoning with Race in America, professor, minister and author MICHAEL ERIC DYSON writes that George Floyd’s death, struggling to breath for eight minutes and 46 seconds under the knee of the by Minneapolis police officer, “revealed the pervasive rot at the core of a system that never treated Black folks with respect.” In his new book, Dyson uses each chapter to write a letter to the victims of police violence — Sandra Bland, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd.
