Guests: Wayne Slater, Alan Gomez and Fawn Johnson

President Obama originally intended to just fund raise in Dallas and Austin for the next two days, but after a week of negotiating, he will be meeting with Republican governor Rick Perry to discuss the recent surge of unaccompanied minors crossing the Texas border. WAYNE SLATER, senior political writer for The Dallas Morning News, gives us the background on the meeting and tell us what we might expect. Meanwhile, back in Washington, the President asked Congress for $3.7 billion to improve border security and provide better housing for the tens of thousands of children who are currently being detained. USA Today reporter ALAN GOMEZ provides the details on the request and how the funds would be used. And finally, we’ll turn to National Journal reporter FAWN JOHNSON to explain the federal policies and laws that have contributed to this humanitarian crisis.
