The race for Governor
It’s been tough for Delaware Republicans to win statewide races with so many more registered Democrats than Republicans. In this week’s First Look we talk with the two Republicans hoping to defeat Democrat John Carney in the November Governor’s Race. Meet GOP candidates Lacey Lafferty and Colin Bonini.

Wilmington Mayor
The majority of voters haven’t made up their mind on whether Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams should return for a second term, and the only poll taken in the re-election battle showed him in third place. Here are the closing statements of all 8 mayoral candidates given a few weeks ago at the WHYY-WDEL debate.

New Castle County Executive
While the Wilmington mayoral debate was mostly civil, there was a bizarre debate in early August between the Democrats and Republicans running for New Castle County Executive. Incumbent County Executive Tom Gordon faced Democratic primary challenger Matt Meyer, and Republican challengers Mark Blake and Barry Nahe. A few weeks ago the three of us broke down the discussion.

First Experience: Terry Newitt
As we wrap up this week’s show we should acknowledge the other big event of the week. It’s back to school time, and First Experience heads back to to the classroom of Delaware painter and art teacher Terry Newitt. For 35 years Terry has been inspiring the students in his Archmere Academy classroom. His students both learn and are inspired by his teaching.
