Ezekiel Emanuel on why the Affordable Care Act is an historical achievement

Listen

Guest: Ezekiel Emanuel

In his new book, Reinventing American Health Care, Ezekiel Emanuel defends and makes the case for the Affordable Care Act saying it is a “world historical achievement, even more important for the United States than Social Security and Medicare have been.” He also provides a behind-the-scenes look at the politics behind the ACA’s passage and looks ahead to the major trends that will shape the delivery of health care in the years ahead. Emanuel, a bioethicist and vice provost for global initiatives at the University of Pennsylvania, was a special adviser to the White House and is one of the law’s architects.
